1. What is a smart switchable film?

Smart switchable film, also known as PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film, is a glass film that can switch between transparent and opaque states using electrical current. It provides instant privacy on demand.

 

2. How does it work?

When powered ON, the liquid crystals align, making the film transparent. When powered OFF, the crystals scatter light, turning the film opaque (frosted).

6. How is it installed?

There are two types:

• Self-adhesive film: Applied directly to existing glass

• Non-adhesive film: Laminated between glass layers during fabrication
  It must be installed by professionals to ensure performance and electrical safety.
   

7. Can it be cut or shaped?

Yes, it can be custom-cut to fit various glass shapes and sizes. However, cutting must be done before installation, and special care is needed to protect the film edges and wiring.

 

8. How long does it last?

A high-quality smart film typically lasts 5-8 years or more under normal indoor conditions.

 

9. Does it block sound or heat?

It provides moderate heat insulation and some acoustic dampening, especially when laminated between double-glazed glass. However, it is not a substitute for full soundproofing.

 

10. Can I control it remotely or with automation?

Yes. Smart film can be integrated with:
